I was thinking about the song from my younger days which included the words, “lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.” So far, I haven’t seen many hazy days. It’s either been cloudy or sunny. I have experienced some crazy days when I seem to flit from one thing to another without accomplishing anything. Lazy, though, I have not seen. I/We need to remember that God rested on the seventh day and He wants us to have a day of rest each week. Be sure to take some time to refresh your body, mind, and spirit.
Have you ever said something that wasn’t’ true? In other words, have you ever told a lie? We are assured that God “does not lie or change His mind; for He is not a human being, that He should change His mind” (1 Samuel 15:29). God keeps His promises. He has a plan for each of us. One of the promises we have from God is that a heavenly home is prepared for us and when He tells us we’re going there, we know He’ll keep His word.
Something to think about that I read this week and would like to share with you:
“Salvation is God-given, God-driven, God-empowered and God-originated. The gift is not from human to God. It is from God to human.” In 1 John 4:10 we read, “It is not our love for God; it’s God’s love for us in sending his Son to be the way to take away our sin.” Enjoy God’s gift today.
We will celebrate Holy Eucharist this Sunday with Rev. Tom Prinz. Dave will be the leader; Paul, the Lector; and Janet the Intercessor. The readings are Psalm 89:20-37; 2 Samuel 7:1-14a; Ephesians 2:11-22 and the Gospel is Mark 6:30-34, 53-56.
Vestry meets Wednesday, July 21 at 7 p.m.
Have a blessed week!
