“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  These words follow the section of Matthew’s gospel known as the Beatitudes.  Jesus is on the mountainside with his disciples sitting at his feet. Crowds of people have gathered around them. I was reminded of this verse (Matt. 5:16) when I got an email this week saying that we can show our light in two ways:  We can be the candle or we can be the reflection in the mirror.  Either way we can give light and love to the world.  Sing “This little light of mine.  I’m gonna let it shine…Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine” as you go about your day to spread a little cheer and let people know you love God.

Thanks to Dave for his leadership last week and to Rev Tom Prinz for his message and celebrating Communion with the CCL family.  We are still urged by the bishops of this diocese to do bread only refraining from sharing wine until further notice.  Thanks to Dave for his expertise in setting up the Zoom broadcast with microphones.

Dave will lead us this week and deliver a message with Beth as Lector and Jane Jacobs as the Intercessor.  The readings for June 27 are Psalm 130 (BCP p 784); 2 Samuel 1:1-17; and 2 Corinthians 8:7-15.  The gospel reading is Mark 5:21-43.

We are happy for Jane and Al Sowards that they have bought a house in NC although we will be sad to lose Jane after all the years she has been so much a part of the church.  Did you know…The ribbons that are in the BCP books were created by Jane for us to use as bookmarks.  Jane was the “reporter” who wrote about the antics of Church Mouse in our newsletters.  She was a member of the Altar Guild for many years.  Jane is leaving the vestment that she wore as a LEM so we will need someone to fill her shoes…. I mean, her vestment.  She served as treasurer in the early days of the church reopening and she has been faithful in serving as one of the counters of the offering each Sunday.  Her absence will leave a big hole there.  I’m sure there is much more that could be said about Jane and her devotion to Christ Church but I’m running out of room.   We wish you well, Jane, in your new home.

See you in church Sunday in person or via Zoom!
