As the days grow shorter and the temperature drops we need to take time to reflect on the blessings in our life. Yes, there are challenges that we face on a daily basis but there are blessings also. Remember that God is with us in all that we do. He has a plan for our lives. He is our Creator and our Protector. Last Sunday, one of the hymns that I played for the Prelude was the Thanksgiving hymn “We Plow the Fields and Scatter.” The words of the refrain are:
“All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above. Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord for all His love.” We have the opportunity to do that as we celebrate Thanksgiving next week.
Be thankful in all things. Happy Thanksgiving!
Bobby Flynn, a former member and Trustee of Christ Church, Lucketts passed away recently. His funeral is today, Nov. 19. Bobby was the son-in-law of Cora Kohlhoss, one of the ladies who spearheaded the restoration and reopening of Christ Church in 1988 after it had been closed for 32 years. Bobby and his wife, Jane, moved to Berryville but have remained a part of our church family. Frequently our Junior Wardens, Damara Bolte’ and Kenny Lee consulted Bobby when questions about the foundation of the church building or other issues concerning the building were a concern. Thank you, Bobby, for the work you did for this church. Rest in peace.
We are grateful to Janet for her summary of the Annual Convention of the Diocese of Virginia that she gave us last Sunday. Janet is President of the Northern VA Region of Episcopal Churches. The churches that are part of the Region meet every other month as a sub-group of the Diocese. Kenny Lee has also served as President of that group. Thanks to Brett who was our delegate to the Convention.
