We were gathered at Christ Church for our Maundy Thursday pot luck dinner.  We were trying to relive and imagine what the Last Supper must have been like.  We were all seated at the table in our church when a stranger passing by entered the front door.  He asked to speak with someone privately so our Lay Pastoral Leader got up and greeted him. Seems he was traveling through and was about to run out of gas. 

Not only did we help him financially, but we also were able to offer him a good meal.

This act of kindness really spoke to my heart.  To me, as beautiful as the evening was, it was defined by those few moments with a stranger.  We were doing what Jesus had asked us to do…”Love one another as I have loved you.”
