Kurt Aschermann, Lay Pastoral Leader

Kurt Aschermann spent his career of over 40 years primarily as a marketing and resource development professional primarily as Chief Marketing and Development Officer at Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He has served in government, been a school teacher and is the author of three books and many articles on such varied topics as coaching children and monastic practices for lay people. He also has conducted retreats, workshops and Adult Formation programs at various churches including the National Cathedral.

Six years ago he founded Community Table of Loudoun, a successful ‘elegant sit-down dinner’ for the food insecure in Northern Virginia which has served almost 4000 meals since its inception. Working with faith communities throughout the county, Aschermann has coordinated CTL since its inception as a volunteer (Community Table of Loudoun is not a nonprofit and there is no staff, board or oversight committee.)

In 2013, Kurt founded a program called followHim: a small group, Christian community that seeks to understand what Jesus calls us to as his disciples. This program, which is also used by churches as an adult formation, small group program, uses a format that provides opportunity for people trying to live the ‘way’ to listen and learn from others who are trying to live as Jesus called us to live.

Kurt has been a frequent guest preacher at churches throughout Loudoun County and currently serves as Lay Pastoral Leader at Christ Church in Lucketts, Virginia. As LPL he leads this parish that does not have a full-time priest.

Kurt resides in in the historic district of Leesburg, Virginia, has three children and two grandchildren.
